The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet (2012)
The well-known prog-rock experimentalists are back and they've brought keyboards galore with them. This is a very different and unique album from their previous ones, and it takes more digesting for long-time TMV fans. After the initial shock, I found that this is a very worthy addition to the band's stellar discography. The band is still oozing with creative energy, and the songs are some of the catchiest they've written. However, I do think that the lead single, The Malkin Jewel, is the worst song they've ever written. But that's only a lump of coal among diamonds.
9/10
