Opeth - Still Life (1999)
Still Life marks a transition for the band into their modern sound and features Mikael's most impressive harsh vocals to date. In fact, they are some of the best harsh vocals in all of death metaldom. Just listen to the chorus in Serenity Painted Death and you'll see what I mean. There are so many other amazing moments on this album too such as:
1. the solo in Moonlapse Vertigo
2. every second of Face of Melinda
3. the intricate acoustic playing in Benighted
This is another one of Opeth's best works and one of the best death metal albums of all time. But don't take it from me. Listen attentively and repeatedly to this album. Rinse and repeat.
10/10
