Ravi Shankar - Three Ragas (1956)
In commemoration of the recent passing of this legendary figure, I had a listen to one of his most celebrated albums, Three Ragas. It was hypnotic, enchanting and quite dense. For Hindustani classical music, it certainly has a different approach and mood than the Western tradition. It seems much more introspective and loose compared with the intricate orchestration and abstractness of Western classical music. I highly recommend this to those who want an introduction to Indian music.
9/10
