Calexico - Algiers (2012)

This is just a really great indie folk album; probably the best I've heard since Iron and Wine's The Shepherd's Dog. The band infuses Latin sounds into many of their tracks, and the whole album is far richer and more innovative than much of what passes for "country" on the radio. Barring some other jaw-dropping folk release I discover from this year, I'd say this album wins for best folk album of the year.
