Kamelot - Silverthorn (2012)

This is definitely the band's best release since The Black Halo. Newly joined singer Tommy Karevik does an absolutely phenomenal job and the band as a whole manages to comfortably step out of Roy Khan's epic shadow. There's no real new ground broken, but I think the old phrase "If it ain't broken then don't fix it" is apropos to this album. The songs are grandiose and gripping as usual, and the songwriting is exceptional. Another one of this year's best.
