Paysage d'Hiver - Winterkalte (2001)
This one-man band creates some of the bleakest, most desolate music I've ever heard. One truly gets the feeling of standing outside in the wilderness during a blizzard in the night. He manages to capture the primal essence of the winter landscape and reproduce it sonically. There's hardly any melody to speak of and his screams meld right into the wall of guitars and chilling ambience. It's an incredibly ambitious and imaginative feat, and it's one of the most notable black metal albums I've listened to yet.9.5/10
