Isis - Oceanic (2002)
Moving on to another classic metal album, Isis' Oceanic is often said to have initiated what is called "post-metal" fusing elements of sludge, and post-rock. The songs perfectly match the beautiful album cover to give a refreshing oceanic theme (like Leviathan). Aaron Turner's soothing clean vocals and emotionally charged growls along with the atmospheric guitars make for a hypnotizing experience. Except for their unfocused debut Celestial, Oceanic is Isis' heaviest album and one that is quite highly regarded in the metal community (as it should be).
9.5/10
