Mastodon - Remission (2002)

Here we have Mastodon's first and most brutal album. Featuring pummeling riffs, absolutely wild drumming, and sinister barking from Troy Sanders, this album is a sludge thrillride. Not only does it feature the heaviness of High on Fire, but it also mixes that with the technicality of Dream Theater. While it's not my favorite Mastodon album, it is an impressive accomplishment from this incredibly talented band.
