Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe (2008)

 Here's another fantastic death metal album. Featuring the unparalleled vocals of Christian Alverstam, Holographic Universe is Scar Symmetry's best album and quite possibly the best melodeath album out there. The 80's pop influence on many of the clean sections is quite apparent and really adds a nice flavor to the music. And the proggish riffage in the heavy parts is really something to be marvelled at. I daresay this album alone surpasses all the albums by more mainstream melodeath acts such as In Flames and Children of Bodom (though those bands are very good too). It's incredibly fun to listen to and it's another one of my all-time favorite albums.
