Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea (2006)

This album is for me the defining album of the entire funeral doom genre. For those who don't know what funeral doom is, it's basically tuning the guitars way down, playing as slowly as possible and adding some demonic growls to top it off. However, what distinguishes Ahab from the rest of the pack is their incredibly tasteful use of clean passages and their nautical theme. It's definitely not for the faint of heart so I recommend you give it repeated listens to let it sink in.
